Nancy Reagan In Her Own Words: I Would Have Done THIS To Save Ronnie

Nancy Reagan

Last night on Megyn Kelly’s show, biographer Paul Kengor shared an incredible story about Nancy Reagan and just how deeply she loved her husband, former President Ronald Reagan.

Nancy needed spiritual counseling after her husband’s assassination attempt in 1981 because of something she deemed “failed responsibility.”  Nancy, it seemed, felt she should have personally taken that bullet for Ronnie.

Via Fox News Insider:

Kengor said he was contacted by the Reagans former pastor with whom Mrs. Reagan had discussed the assassination attempt on President Reagan’s life.

“He was getting near to the end of his life, and he wanted to get this information to me,” he said of the pastor.

Kengor said that when Ronald Reagan was shot March 30, 1981, Nancy called the Rev. Evans and apparently was in need of some spiritual counseling.

“Nancy was sitting there and she said you know, I’m struggling with this feeling of failed responsibility… because I always stand next to Ronnie on his left side, and he was shot on his left side. And if I had only been there when he was walking to that car on his left side I could have taken that bullet for Ronnie.”

Watch Kengor explain the story below …

What an incredible story!
