Wife Finds Husband After 23 Years But You Wouldn’t Expect This Homecoming, EVER!

missing husband

Sometimes with stories like this, you happen upon a family that might have been separated by war, or some other natural occurrence that couldn’t be helped. But this one is much stranger.

Former wife Linda Iseler had moved on with her life after her husband had left the house and never came back. She had two boys at the time, and she pulled herself together to raise them the best way she could, never knowing what happened to her husband.

Then, three months ago, she found that he was alive, living with the stolen identity of a man who had died back in 1991. Let me also add, not only was he alive and in trouble with the law, but he was also remarried. Doesn’t that raise your blood pressure?

From Yahoo News:

Linda Iseler had at last moved on from her old life — the one where her husband, Richard Hoagland, abruptly left her and their two sons 23 years ago — until one phone call three months ago brought it crashing back.

That’s when Iseler, 59, learned that Hoagland had been arrested on July 20 and charged with fraudulent use of personal identification in Pasco County, Florida, after allegedly stealing the identity of Terry Symanski, a Florida man who drowned in 1991. A stray Internet search eventually unraveled his ruse.

“I’ve had a real upheaval of feelings and emotions,” Iseler tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue, on newsstands Friday, of the revelations about Hoagland, 63.

“Some of this stuff that I thought I was over — it has come back,” she says.

Hoagland remains in jail on a $25,000 bond and has pleaded not guilty. He declined to be interviewed by PEOPLE.

Since his arrest, details have slowly emerged about what happened to Hoagland since 1993, and how he ended up across the country from Indiana, in Zephyrhills, Florida.

When authorities tracked him down there, he had a new name, a new wife and another child.

“This guy is a coward,” Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said at a news conference. “He left a family behind. It’s sad for the victims all around.”

This is the family he left behind:

missing husband

Wow, when I saw this man’s photo, I thought to myself, George Costanza (from Seinfeld) had a dark past!

I don’t know what happened to make this man up and leave his family, but it’s not right no matter what the deal was. He could have talked to her I am sure. Marriages back then were built to last, so I won’t speculate, but his actions were wrong, and karma came back on him two-fold.

It’s especially sad to see at a time when marriage is on the decline in America. Most people know that over 50% of all marriages end in divorce. Young people and the Millennial generation are waiting longer and longer before getting married – and some are deciding to never get married at all. The destruction of the family unit is one of the major problems our country has, and guys like this aren’t helping any!
