What This Hollywood Actor Said About Hillary Will Make Feminist Heads Explode

Clint Howard

Actor Clint Howard is known for his 200+ character actor roles ranging from the Andy Griffith Show to Austin Powers to Apollo 13. He is perhaps best known for being director Ron Howard’s younger brother.

But now he will be better known for being the lone Hollywood actor willing to unleash on presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, referring to her as a ‘bitter old grandma.’

“When they (voters) look at her I believe what they’re going to see is a photograph of a bitter old grandma,” Howard said.

He added, “I don’t think she can put on enough makeup to change people’s perception of her.”

Whoa! It sounds like Clint Howard is cruising straight for Hollywood’s blacklist!

Via The Daily Beast:

“It’s a little sad to realize that in politics your looks play as important a role in such an important job,” he mused. “Television came into it and John Kennedy looked so good on television and Nixon didn’t. That kind of changed everything.”

That, he argued, will be a hurdle for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, who must adapt to the extra gendered scrutiny of being the sole woman in the race. “When they look at her I believe what they’re going to see is a photograph of a bitter old grandma,” Howard said, sympathetically. “Eight years ago I don’t believe that would have been the narrative. But I don’t think she can help it. I don’t think she can put on enough makeup to change people’s perception of her.”

“Eight years ago she was the presumed Democratic nominee, and a fellow came along and, as they say in baseball, he boat-raced her. She was winning! And all of a sudden she got left in his wake. She’s only gotten older, and the sadness of looks being a part of it… I’m not sure America’s going to elect a bitter old grandmother.”

In January, the Ted Cruz campaign announced that they had garnered the endorsement of Howard in the presidential campaign.

“Clint Howard is an excellent actor and a true patriot,” Cruz said. “It is encouraging to see members of Hollywood stand up for principle. Our country is in desperate need of leaders who will guide us toward what is moral and right and Clint is one of those leaders. He understands where our country is headed and what needs to be done and I truly appreciate his support.”
