Watch: Dem Congressman Called Him a Racist… But There’s One HUGE Problem!

George Wallace

Far-left “progressive” Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) tried to falsely portray former Alabama governor George Wallace, a leading symbol for segregation in the 1960s, as a Republican.

Ellison was trying to draw comparisons between Donald Trump’s campaign and that of Wallace.

“We do have the worst Republican nominee since George Wallace,” Ellison proclaimed.

But there’s a HUGE problem with that.

Except Wallace was a Democrat governor who sought the Democrat presidential nomination in 1964, 1972, and 1976. He was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1948 and addressed the DNC in 1972.

He once famously declared at his inaugural address as Democrat governor of Alabama, that he wanted “Segregation now. Segregation tomorrow. And segregation forever.”

None of which matters because, as you know, the Democrats have spent decades rewriting history on their party’s own racist roots.

After making such a blatantly false claim, Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) put Ellison in his place.

Via the Washington Free Beacon:

“At the same time, we do have the worst Republican nominee since George Wallace,” Ellison said.

Host George Stephanopoulos didn’t correct Ellison and went on to ask Cole a question about whether the Republican National Convention was a success, but Cole first called out Ellison.

“Well, first I want to correct my friend,” Cole said. “George Wallace was a proud Democrat and ran for the Democratic nomination.

“It was on that stage down there,” he said, pointing down at the Philadelphia arena where This Week was broadcasting from.

“Thank God he got rejected and lost,” Ellison interjected.

“Well, that’s fine, but let’s be clear on the record as to whose party he belonged to,” Cole said, as he schooled Ellison.

Ellison fell silent and looked down at the desk.

That’s a typical reaction when you present liberals with facts – silence, head down.

Ellison was simply parroting Democrat and media talking points when he made the charge that Trump was just like Wallace. He just didn’t do his history homework.

The DNC has been promoting these talking points for some time. Freshly resigned Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz has said Trump’s ‘nasty rhetoric’ makes him “a modern-day George Wallace.”

In other words, ‘nasty,’ ‘racist’ rhetoric makes you just like a Democrat according to those on the left.
