Several of Obama’s speechwriters gathered with Charlie Rose this week to reminisce on their favorite speech writing moments. During the course of the conversation, Jon Lovett tells Charlie that joke speeches are his favorite, but he is most proud of the serious ones, like the ones he wrote to sell Obamacare to the American people.
That’s when fellow writer Jon Favreau interjects, “Lovett wrote the line about ‘If you like your insurance, you can keep it.'” The table explodes with laughter as Lovett says with mock indignation, “How dare you!”
It’s pretty much: Remember that time we had the President of the United States lie to the American people at least 36 times about Obamacare?! BWAHAHAHAHA Good times! Isn’t it just hilarious?

The bigger joke is that Lovett says of the lie, “It’s still true.”
As the Washington Examiner recounts:
An estimated 4.7 million people were told in the fall of 2013 that their health insurance plans would be cancelled for noncompliance with the recently enacted federal healthcare law, according to the Associated Press.
The Obama administration reportedly knew in 2010 that 50-75 percent of the 14 million people in the United States who buy their insurance individually would probably receive cancellation letters, NBC News reported at the time.
On Nov. 7, 2013, Obama went on television to apologize for the mass cancellations.
Later, on Dec. 12, 2013, the fact-checking website PolitiFact gave President Obama the “Lie of the Year” award for promising repeatedly that people who liked their insurance could “keep it.”
Obama’s speechwriters are the ones who got President Teleprompter elected, so we have them to thank for a lot of the lies and deceptions of the last 7+ years. Watching them laugh and joke about how they got us into the mess we’re in is infuriating! It’s yet another slap in the face from Team Obama.
