Many of us probably remember going to our high school prom, finding the perfect dress or corsage and renting a limo to impress classmates.
For Ralph Wozniak and his wife, LaVerne they never had a chance to attend their high school prom. For Ralph, bigger duties called. Ralph left his high school and enlisted in the Marine Corps to serve overseas in World War II. Unfortunately he had to miss his prom. LaVerne who attended a different high school, also missed out because her school didn’t hold a prom during wartime.
They did however get married!
At nearly 90 years old, Ralph Wozniak still takes romantic walks in the park with his wife – however he never got to ask her to the prom.
Ralph always questioned, “Why the hell couldn’t we go to the prom?”
Well now 66 years later the couple’s dream is coming true. They attended the Hillsborough County Aging Services Senior Prom, where Ralph was crowned the prom king.
It’s a night they will never forget.
