Veteran Saves Dog from Deathtrap, and Owner Does THIS!

Dog

When Michael Hammons noticed a small dog in distress in a hot car, he went into action. The Desert Storm veteran took the leg from his wife’s wheelchair and broke the window, probably saving the dog’s life. The police had already been called to assist the dog, but Hammons was concerned that the dog was suffering too much while they waited. Hammons, who suffers from PTSD, said that he couldn’t leave the dog to die.

“I’ve got PTSD, and I’ve seen enough death and destruction,” Hammons said. “And I didn’t want anything else to happen if I could prevent it.”

Rather than thank Hammons for saving her dog’s life, the owner had him arrested for breaking the window of the car. She claimed that the dog was only in the car for five minutes on the hot day, but other shoppers at the Athens, Georgia shopping center stated that the dog was left in the car for a considerable amount of time. The police said they wouldn’t have arrested Hammons had the owner not insisted.

Hammons was not concerned with the consequences of rescuing the dog and he would do it again.

“I knew there’d be consequences, but it didn’t matter. Glass, they make new glass every day, but they could never replace that dog.”
