Donald Trump has the Twitter following of a celebrity (which isn’t that surprising – considering he was one!), and unlike others of his social status, he actually manages his own social media.
His tweets, often attacking his enemies or giving an insight into his stream of conscience, became a CNN segment every time he sent one out during the election. A single tweet of him targeting a particular company can (and has) cost them hundreds of millions of dollars in market value. And of course now that he’s President Donald Trump, there were some questions as to whether or not he’d still do his own tweets.
He will be, of course – and he’ll be doing so with a heck of a lot more security than Hillary Clinton’s team would’ve.
President-elect Donald Trump has given up his Android phone for a Secret Service-approved “tweeter” device that he may use to connect with his 20.5 million Twitter followers as president.
Trump does not always post tweets himself, but dictates his tweets to staff, Mike Allen at Axios reported Friday.
Trump’s new encrypted device also takes calls, but only a few select people have access to the number, the New York Times reported Thursday.
Rather than use the @POTUS Twitter account set up by President Barack Obama in 2015, Trump intends to continue communicating with the followers through his @realDonaldTrump username.
