Ah, the ever-tolerant left.

A famous Hollywood star was arrested this past weekend for assaulting a cab driver, after the two had a political disagreement over the driver’s support of President-elect Donald Trump.

T.J. Miller, star of “Silicon Valley” and the new film “Office Christmas Party,” allegedly slapped and beat his Uber driver after the political discourse became too much for him to handle.

Via the Hollywood Reporter:

Silicon Valley and Office Christmas Party star T.J. Miller was arrested early Friday morning in Los Angeles for battery on a cab driver, police said.

The arrest took place at 1 a.m. Friday morning after an altercation with a cab service driver resulted in Miller allegedly assaulting the employee over a political argument involving Donald Trump, LAPD officer Jenny Houser told The Hollywood Reporter.

The incident was recorded as a private person arrest, commonly known as a citizen’s arrest, the official said. Miller was taken into custody by LAPD officers and released without having to post bail later that same morning, officer Houser said.

Miller claimed he’d address the ‘elephant in the room’ when he hosted the Critics’ Choice Awards this weekend, but like many of his screen characters, he chose to run away from his responsibilities.

“Before we start, we need to address the elephant in the room,” Miller began at the award show. “It’s been in the news all weekend, and it’s really affected me: The election was definitely hacked by the Russians.”

He later referred to Trump as an internet troll, but never brought up his arrest.

Imagine for a moment, the outcry had this been Jon Voight or Scott Baio – or any other Hollywood star who supports Trump – slapping a Hillary Clinton supporter? Their career would be over.

In November, two of Miller’s “Silicon Valley” co-stars complained about an incident at a bar where two Trump supporters allegedly engaged them over politics.

“We can’t let hate/racism/bigotry/sexism be normalized,” actor Kumail Nanjiani wrote on social media at the time. “If something happens, be safe, but let it be known we won’t stand for this.”

Now that one of their co-stars has engaged in hateful acts, it’ll be interesting to see if Nanjiani will remain steadfast in that commitment.
