Selena Gomez’s Message To Music Industry Is Going Viral! It Needed To Be Said!

Selena Gomez

Pop Singer, Actress Selena Gomez left the music industry to deal with lupus, a disease that displays side effects such as anxiety and depression. Selena in the video below addressed the members of the America Music Awards (AMAs) on Sunday night and it was powerful. She humbly told her peers things she wasn’t able to relay to them last year.

“If you are broken you do not have to stay broken.”

Gomez felt broken inside as the music industry has taken a piece of her and at the time she felt she couldn’t get it back. I just learned a bit more about lupus and I have to say even for her to go out to this event after recently suffering the side effects of the disease is good. This disease affects people differently so she is lucky it doesn’t seem to make her super sick like some people who do have it. Glad to see her out again.

From FaithIt:

Selena Gomez took a break from the public spotlight back in August. Part of the break had to do with her battle with Lupus and the side effects of anxiety and depression, the other part seemed to deal with her identity and the need to find her significance in places other than the crowd’s fickle approval.

Well, Sunday night Selena made an appearance at the AMAs to accept the award for Favorite Female Artist—Pop/Rock. In her acceptance speech, Gomez unloaded her heart on an unsuspecting audience, and her words were wise beyond her years.

“I think it’s safe to say that all of you know my life whether I like it or not. I had to stop because I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside,” Gomez said. “I don’t want to see your bodies on Instagram. I want to see what’s in here [holds chest]. I’m not trying to get validation nor do I need it anymore.”

Watch Selena give her speech here:

Forget music and music taste. I have a bucket load of respect for Selena Gomez and this speech.

This was a very impactful speech even if some of the people in the crowd didn’t receive it. Everyone is fighting a battle. What you see when you look at someone who seemingly has it all (and all together) is only the surface. There is a war going on within us all, and with every battle we face, we hope to overcome or learn to cope.

Every trial you face can and will make you stronger. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Don’t think for one second that putting your own mental well-being first makes you selfish. When it comes to your health, it’s alright to be selfish.

What did you think of the speech? Do you think anyone will understand and make a personal life change? Share your comments below and add your voice to this amazing moment. Don’t forget to share this article on Facebook and Twitter.
