Sarah Palin: Why Aren’t Illegals Sent to Rich Liberal Neighborhoods?

Say what you will about Sarah Palin, but at least she’s not afraid to point out that the emperor has no clothes. At the Western Conservative Summit in Colorado this weekend, Palin wondered aloud why Obama doesn’t transplant all those unaccompanied minors to Berkeley, Georgetown, and the Upper West Side. After all, aren’t those neighborhoods filled with compassionate liberals who support open borders?

I can almost hear the horrified, womanly gasps emanating from Georgetown cocktail parties. How could Palin make such an inappropriate remark? But honestly, maybe it’s time for Georgetown residents to ask themselves why they still won’t allow the D.C. metro to run through their community. To us common folk, the reason is obvious: They want to keep the riffraff out.

That includes illegal immigrants, apparently. The more than 60,000 unaccompanied minors who have crossed the border this year are being sent to places like Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Virginia — not New York or Washington, and certainly no place inhabited by “the 1%.” It’s one thing for liberals to stand around at a faculty meeting or a $500-per-plate fundraiser and pat each other on the back for being so compassionate. It’s quite another to actually live it.

There’s nothing stopping so-called progressives from proving themselves on this issue. As Palin wondered, why doesn’t Mark Zuckerberg open his home, free of charge, to some “undocumented” immigrants? I’m sure he has room.
