Palin Apologizes to Assange, While Paul Ryan Jabs Him As ‘Sycophant for Russia’

A tale of two reactions from Republican Party members appear to be developing as one maverick and one establishment player have offered two very different reactions to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.

Sarah Palin, former vice-presidential candidate and consistent thorn in the side of the establishment, has apologized to Assange, saying the information gleaned from his organization “finally opened people’s eyes to democrat candidates and operatives” who “would not have been exposed” otherwise.

She had condemned Assange in 2008 when her “infamous” emails were released, but said leaks of DNC and Clinton campaign e-mails have now proven that Democrats are “oh-so-guilty of atrocious actions and attitudes of which they’ve falsely accused others.”

House Speaker Paul Ryan, a more party line-towing member who has found it difficult to embrace President-elect Donald Trump, had a very different take.

Rather than recognizing the value of the information exposed this campaign season by Wikileaks, Ryan blasted Assange as “a sycophant for Russia.”

He also squeezed in a couple of veiled shots at Trump, essentially suggesting the President-elect doesn’t know what he’s talking about until he gets his Russia intelligence briefings.

Via Breitbart:

Ryan responded to a question on whether the president-elect should be quoting Assange by stating that “the last thing I’m going to do is start commenting on every little tweet or Facebook post. That is just not what I do with the president-elect, or when he’s president.”

Ryan added, “I think he has not received his Russia briefing yet. I believe that’s schedule for Friday. So, hopefully, he’ll get up to speed on what has been happening and what Russia has or has not done, and he’ll be better informed on that.”

Ryan then stated his opinion of Assange, which is that Assange is “a sycophant for Russia. He leaks. He steals data and compromises national security.”

Assange and other Wikileaks members have vehemently denied they received any of their Democrat leaks from the Russians. How that makes him a “sycophant for Russia” remains a mystery.
