Navy Dumps Plan to Use ‘Politically Correct’ Job Titles

Navy job titles

In yet another sign that the ‘politically correct’ pajama boy era of President Obama has seen it’s last days, and the alpha male era of President-elect Trump is on the horizon, the Navy has decided to scrap plans to eliminate job titles that were deemed politically incorrect – namely those that dared include the word ‘man’ in the title.

Back in September, the Navy announced a “large cultural change” to their ranks, removing all historic job titles and replacing them with occupational specialty codes, as opposed to direct titles. The move effectively removed the word ‘man’ from any job titles.

As a Republican candidate for president, Trump explained his views on political correctness saying “I think the big problem this country has is being politically correct.”

“I’ve been challenged by so many people and I don’t, frankly, have time for total political correctness,” he explained, “And to be honest with you, this country doesn’t have time, either.”

The Navy now concurs, reversing course on the cultural experimentation of removing ‘man’ from their job titles.

In a dramatic about face, the U.S. Navy announced Wednesday it would dump a plan to eliminate dozens of job titles for enlisted sailors – some ending in “man” – after thousands complained.

Navy Adm. John Richardson, chief of naval operations, said in a statement that the proposed removal of rating titles “was unnecessary and detracted from accomplishing our major goals.”

“We have learned from you, and so effective immediately, all rating names are restored,” Richardson said.

The initial decision to drop traditional titles and refer to sailors by their rank had signaled a sharp cultural shift for the Navy. Efforts to change titles that ended in “man” also were in response to the Pentagon decision to open all combat jobs to women.

When the changes were first implemented, sailors took to the Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson’s Facebook page to defend their stripped rating titles.

“Respectfully this is the stupidest decision ever,” one comment read.

Others posted their rating badges in protest.

Still others launched a White House petition asking the President to “use your authority to restore to our Sailors what they have earned.”

The petition garnered over 100,000 signatures.

After hearing the angry reactions of thousands of sailors, Richardson announced that Navy leaders believe they can find a way to provide better job flexibility without dropping the titles.

Echoing the words of President-elect Trump, the Navy appears to have recognized that neither the country, nor the military, has time for political correctness.
