Major Republican Group Backs Nancy Pelosi – The Reason Why Will Have You Smiling

In a stunning move, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has endorsed House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in her effort to beat back other Democrats challenging her leadership position.

The former Speaker of the House has been challenged by Tim Ryan, an Ohio Democrat, after the party’s devastating election results this past week.

Ryan said that sticking with Pelosi amounted to the very definition of insanity – doing the “same thing over and over again and keep getting the same results.”

The NRCC however, has Pelosi’s back, actually issuing a press release supporting her leadership bid.

The endorsement isn’t quite what you might think, however.

The NRCC contends that Pelosi’s leadership has been so deplorable that ‘House Democrats have become completely irrelevant, and there is no better way to ensure that remains the case.’

Via the Free Beacon:

Struggling House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) won a key endorsement Thursday in her bid to beat back insurgent liberal rivals challenging her leadership position after winning the endorsement of the National Republican Congressional Committee.

The NRCC, a 527 campaign organization, issued a press release to announce its support for Pelosi, the veteran California congresswoman and former speaker of the House, against Democrats running from her left and right flanks.

“The NRCC would like to offer its full support to the embattled former speaker of the House,” the release said. “Under Nancy Pelosi’s leadership, House Democrats squandered their majority by forcing through unpopular legislation like Obamacare.”

“No single person deserves more credit for House Republicans’ historic majority than Nancy Pelosi,” said NRCC Communications Director Katie Martin. “Under Nancy Pelosi’s leadership, House Democrats have become completely irrelevant, and there is no better way to ensure that remains the case than by keeping her as Minority Leader.”

The group goes on to poke fun at Pelosi’s ability to whistle through the graveyard during each election cycle.

“Former Speaker Pelosi has also established herself as the world’s worst election prognosticator,” the statement reads. “Since her relegation to the minority, Pelosi has repeatedly assured reporters, cycle after cycle, that a Democrat majority is right around the corner, only to be soundly defeated each time.”

Here’s what Pelosi said about her party on election night:

Well, tonight, I believe that the Democrats will come out in a stronger position.

We will, of course, retain the White House, with the election of Hillary Clinton. I believe we will gain the United States Senate. It will be close, but we will gain the United States Senate. And we will pick up many seats in the House of Representatives.

Oooo ….

The NRCC couldn’t be more right – if Democrats continue to stick with a proven loser in Pelosi, the Republicans will continue to make strides under the Trump administration, rendering her party all but irrelevant.
