U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch announced Friday the Justice Department will launch a civil rights investigation into the Baltimore Police Department.
“When I traveled to Baltimore earlier this week, I had the opportunity to see the significant work that the city and the police department had done with the COPS Office over the last six months through a collaborative reform process,” she said at a press conference. “But despite the progress being made, it was clear that recent events, including the tragic in-custody death of Mr. Freddie Gray had given rise to a serious erosion of public trust.”
I wonder if they’re also going to investigate the civil rights violation of the mayor when she instructed her police department to not use safety gear and to not arrest people who were pummeling the officers with rocks and bottles, and looting and burning property.
Who will be held responsible for the injuries the officers sustained during the riots and reimburse the business owners for their loss? The city of Baltimore will not even release information to whether any of the rioters have been charged or if they are actively seeking those who set fires and looted businesses and assaulted police officers.
It seems some people’s “Civil Rights” are not a priority, while the Justice Department goes out of its way to address others.
“This investigation will begin immediately and will focus on allegations that Baltimore Police Department officers use excessive force, including deadly force; conduct unlawful searches, seizures and arrests and engage in discriminatory policing,” she said.

While they’re at it why not investigate the DA for misconduct in too quickly filing overreaching charges against the police officers without having all the evidence as well as attempting to suppress the knife in question. And, investigate the mayor for misconduct that helped incite these riots. Oh, and maybe before the DoJ starts accusing the Baltimore police of racial profiling, it may want to check the race and color of all the officers involved in this case. Once again Obama sends his private hit squad out to stir the pot.
