Former Arkansas Governor, Mike Huckabee, has tossed his hat into the ring for a Presidential bid in 2016, proclaiming he would treat our veterans better, will stop Iran from attaining a nuclear weapon, and will never apologize for America.

Huckabee made the announcement in his hometown of Hope, Ark. saying “we need the kind of change that … could get America from hope to higher ground,” in a metaphor that could equally apply to the town, or President Obama’s campaign promise of ‘hope and change.’

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee announced his bid for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination on Tuesday morning.

Huckabee, who is popular with the religious right, shared the news of his candidacy with supporters at Hempstead Hall in his hometown of Hope, 113 miles southwest of Little Rock.

“I was raised to believe that where a person started doesn’t mean that’s where he has to stop,” he said. “I always believed that a kid could go from Hope to higher ground.”

In his announcement, Huckabee took some further shots at the current President, saying “our veterans are not going to be left on the streets and in waiting rooms to rot,” and “hell will freeze over” before Iran gets nuclear weapons.

He added, “I will never ever apologize for America, ever,” something Obama has done time and again since becoming President.
