Hours Before Inauguration, Boeing CEO Shocks Everyone With NEW Air Force One Cost

Only one month ago, President-elect Donald Trump caused Boeing stock to plummet after Tweeting that he would cancel the order for the new Air Force One, because it was costing more than $4 billion.

At the time, commentators said it was childish, shameful, and un-Presidential. But after what just happened, we now know Trump knew exactly what he was doing… and it worked!

Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg just met with Trump and announced the price is going to lowered, substantially. This is what leadership looks like:

While not offering details, Muilenburg said the ‘excellent conversation’ with Trump could lead to a deal ‘in the very near term.’

‘We made some great progress on simplifying requirements for Air Force One, streamlining the process, streamlining certification by using commercial practices,’ Muilenburg told reporters after the hour-long meeting.

Tump has been pressuring defense companies on prices through Twitter posts and meetings.

Last month he said a $4 billion contract for Air Force One was too expensive and should be canceled.

Boeing has said it so far has a $170 million contract for design work on the heavily modified Boeing 747 planes and that no final figure for the fleet of planes had been established.

Trump made it clear from the beginning that the plane was too expensive. He owns his own planes, and said at the time he doesn’t “need a $4.2 billion airplane to fly around in.”

Now, Trump is getting his way and taxpayers will benefit by massive cost savings from a company not used to being challenged on their multi-billion dollar government contracts.

And this isn’t the first time Trump has taken on Boeing. After winning the election, Trump took direct aim at the most expensive defense program in history:

President-elect Donald J. Trump’s latest missive on military spending suggests that Boeing has perhaps swayed him more than its rival Lockheed Martin. Now, he is preparing to pit one off the other to try to decrease the cost of new fighter jets, military analysts said on Thursday.

Mr. Trump’s post on Twitter on Thursday afternoon said that based on the “tremendous cost and cost overruns” on Lockheed’s new F-35 strike fighter jet, he had asked Boeing to give him the price for a “comparable” version of its older F-18 Super Hornet.

Donald Trump was right from the beginning, and is already saving Americans money before his inauguration tomorrow.
