House Republicans Working with Trump to Build the Wall

You may not be tired of winning yet, but after you hear The Donald’s plans for his first day in office, that may change.

First on the agenda is signing into law a full repeal of Obamacare. Trump has promised to repeal the healthcare law on day one, and the Congress is already preparing to have a repeal bill on his desk for when he takes office. The Senate took the first step Wednesday with a 51-48 vote on a a procedural motion to start debate on a budget resolution that Republicans hope will result in overhauling the healthcare law.

And next up on the list of promises to fulfill is building the much-promised “big beautiful” wall.

Here too, it’s more than just talk. Republicans in Congress are already moving to put the plan in motion!

House Republicans and Donald Trump’s team are coalescing around a multi-billion dollar plan to make good on the president-elect’s campaign vows to build a wall between the United States and Mexico, according to top Republican lawmakers and aides.

Republican leaders, in tandem with Trump’s transition staff, are considering using a 2006 law signed by former President George W. Bush that authorized the construction of 700 miles-plus of “physical barrier” on the southern border. The law was never fully implemented and did not include a sunset provision, allowing Trump to pick up where Bush left off — with the help of new money from Congress.

Some have insisted that Trump is “walking back” his promise to make Mexico pay for the wall, but Trump is responding by arguing that he’s not going to allow Mexico’s refusal to pay be an excuse to delay beginning construction of the wall ASAP – and they’ll be paying eventually.

The pressure is already on Mexico, and the Peso is in freefall. Trump stated that he’ll be demanding $5 billion from Mexico towards the wall, and given how much they”ve benefited from illegal immigration, and how much damage we can inflict on their economy if they don’t comply, they better take Trump up on that offer.
