FBI’s James Comey Announces Team Hillary Obstructed in Email ‘Hacking’ Investigation

When Trump starts his administration soon, it will be interesting to see what happens with the FBI and the Hillary investigation.

Democrats have quite the relationship with FBI Director James Comey. Once lauded for his decision to not criminally prosecute former Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, he became an easy target for blame by Clinton-insiders for his actions in the days before the November election.

Comey had a rough year and has been silent during the transition process. But that just changed!

Comey is now fighting back against attacks from Democrats, noting that the FBI actually asked for access to the “hacked” servers which had emails from campaign chairman John Podesta and other top Democrats. He tried to get to the bottom of it.

It’s easy to understand Podesta’s thinking here, as the hacked servers were also the center of Hillary Clinton’s illegal use of private email accounts, and turning the server over to investigators could easily have exposed more of Hillary Clinton’s unethical fundraising for the Clinton Foundation.

In addition, the DNC wanted to ensure the Russian narrative would stick and instead counted on private company Crowdstrike to track down the phishing assault that gave hackers access to Podesta’s email count.

And while they blamed it on Russians, a second review by cyber-defense company Wordfence said it was actually an old Ukrainian code. A Russian attack, they claimed, would be far more sophisticated.

Comey was frustrated about the lack of direct access the FBI had to the technology, and is fighting back after Hillary Clinton and her former campaign team has treated him like a punching bag:

Thousands of emails from the servers and Chairman John Podesta’s device were stolen, then made public during the race, which Clinton lost to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

But the FBI’s repeated requests for access to the devices were denied. So the agency instead had to rely on the findings of a “highly respected private company,” Comey said.

“Our forensics folks would always prefer to get access to the original device or server involved,” he said in a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing about Russia’s intelligence activities during the election.

Comey said he didn’t know why the FBI was denied access.

He testified along with CIA Director John Brennan and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. They spoke publicly for the first time since their agencies last week briefed Capitol Hill leaders, President Obama and Trump about the alleged Russian hacking and released an unclassified report on their findings.

The report concluded that Russia and Russian President Vladimir Putin medddled in the election but found no evidence of vote tampering.

Clapper on Tuesday repeated that the U.S. intelligence community “does not access the impact” of such tampering nor “draw any conclusion.”

Comey acknowledged Tuesday that the Republican National Committee also was hacked but only with “limited penetration.” He also said the hackers gained access only to “old domains.”

This is more evidence that if there was extensive election “hacking,” it wasn’t about helping Trump. Instead, hackers were only able to access mass files of Democrat emails because their cyber-security was absurdly weak. This is hardly Trump’s fault.

The DNC’s lack of cooperation with the FBI shows they clearly had something to hide, and they were trying to avoid creating additional political landmines for the most corrupt candidate to ever run for President.
