Over the last several weeks, we have learned that Hillary Clinton did not completely sever ties with the Clinton Foundation while she served as Secretary of State.
Many top-level Republicans have suggested that Clinton ran a pay-to-play operation while at the State Department, and allowed donations to her husband’s foundation to heavily influence government policy.
Well, Republican presidential nominee Donald J. Trump has just demanded that the Clinton Foundation be “shut down immediately.”
In a statement released by his campaign, Trump blasted the foundation and called Clinton “the defender of the corrupt and rigged status quo…It is now clear that the Clinton Foundation is the most corrupt enterprise in political history. What they were during during Crooked Hillary’s time as Secretary of State was wrong then, and it is wrong now. It must be show down immediately.”

The foundation said last week that it will not accept foreign or corporate donations if Clinton is elected president, although the Clinton campaign has pushed back on it being the center of a political controversy. “The same Saudi Arabia donated to Bush 41’s Foundation. Yet Bush 43 went on to be President without such q’s asked,” press secretary Brian Fallon tweeted Sunday, in response to a New York Times article.
Trump, calling in to “Fox & Friends” later Monday morning, said the Clintons should return money from “a lot of countries that we shouldn’t be taking and they shouldn’t be taking money from.”
“Countries that influenced her totally and also countries that discriminate against women and gays and everybody else. I mean, that money — it should be given back. They should not take that money,” Trump said.
