According to The Daily Beast, U.S. Capitol Police are responding to reports of shots fired at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C., which is near the White House.
Reportedly, EMS units are reportedly on the way to treat multiple injuries. Capitol workers were told by law enforcement to shelter in place due to a “potential security threat.”
The email went out to House staffers shortly before 3:00 p.m. ET saying that no one can exit or enter any Capitol buildings. If they are outside, they were instructed to seek cover.
Due to police activity, Capitol Police have issued a shelter in place for the Capitol complex. Please stay in your designated area. #alert
