Boehner Goes It Alone; Invites Netanyahu to Address Congress without Consulting Obama

President Obama has stumbled on foreign policy for the duration of his Presidency, but his inadequacies have been particularly noticeable on his handling of terrorism and supporting our allies.

Both chambers of Congress are considering increasing sanctions on Iran. This has pitted the White House against some Democrats on Capitol Hill. Senator Bob Mendendez (D-NJ) had particularly harsh words for the President.

“The more I hear from the administration and its quotes, the more it sounds like talking points that come straight out of Tehran. And it feeds to the Iranian narrative of victimization, when they are the ones with the original sin.”

Before taking action on Iran, Congressional leaders felt the need to invite our strongest ally and the one who Iran is the most hostile towards. Showing that he also has a pen and a phone, Speaker Boehner decided to circumvent the President and invited Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress to discuss the threats of radical Islam and Iran. The Speaker did not consult with the White House prior to inviting the Prime Minister.

“I did not consult with the White House. The Congress can make this decision on it’s own. I don’t believe I’m poking anyone in the eye. There is a serious threat that exists in the world and the President last night kind of papered over it.”

The Obama Administration was not pleased with the Boehner’s invitation to our ally. White House spokesman Josh Earnest charged that the Speaker broke protocol by not planning with the President. Citing the proximity to the Israeli elections, the White House stated that President Obama nor John Kerry will not be meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu when he is in Washington in March.

The President has been widely criticized for his failures in dealing with radical Islam. He skipped the rally in Paris following the terrorist attacks at Charlie Hebdo and a kosher market. His ineptness on foreign affairs was further displayed a week after the attacks when John Kerry took James Taylor to Paris to sing, “You’ve Got a Friend” to attempt to make amends.

It is unknown if the White House will send a singer or actress to meet with the Prime Minister on his behalf.

What should be the theme song of the Obama Administration?
