Amazing: Holocaust Survivor Achieves Life Long Dream In Front Of Thousands Of Cheering Fans!

Holocaust Survivor

89-year-old holocaust survivor Hermina Hirsch has been singing the national anthem for years at survivor meetings in Detroit.

In 1944 and 1945, she was separated from her family and transferred between five different concentration camps before finally being liberated.

Hirsch, who is originally from Czechoslovakia, has been a Detroit Tigers fan for over 60 years.

She was able to fulfill a lifelong dream by singing the national anthem prior to a game for her beloved Tigers.

Via the Daily Mail:

An 89-year-old Holocaust survivor fulfilled her longtime wish to sing the US national anthem at a Major League Baseball game.

Hermina Hirsch, dressed in all white, made her dream come true as she sang Saturday at Comerica Park in Detroit before the Detroit Tigers played the Tampa Bay Rays.

Hermina told WWJ-TV: ‘At my age, I figure that this would do it. I don’t want to die before I sing at a baseball game.’

Hermina told WWJ in April that she had no reservations about singing in front of thousands of fans at Comerica Park.

‘If I lived through the concentration camp, it couldn’t be that bad,’ Hermina said.

Check out Hirsch’ performance:

Hirsch and her husband were married in 1947 and moved to New York, then later to Detroit in 1953, where they embraced the hometown baseball team.

Unlike this fella, where the national anthem and his heart were long ago separated:

The liberation of holocaust survivors also takes a backseat with Obama.

In January, world leaders gathered at Auschwitz to mark the 70th anniversary of the concentration camp’s liberation by Russian forces. Our president was not in attendance, instead sending Secretary of the Treasury Jack Lew in his place while he traveled to India.

As our friends over at Weasel Zippers write, “It’s a safe bet that Mrs. Hirsch believes in American Exceptionalism more than current White House occupants.”
