After Farewell Speech, Military Vets Voice Their True Feelings About Obama

obama military poll

Last week, President Barack Obama delivered a farewell speech to our men and women in the military, saying, “There has been no greater privilege, and no greater honor, than serving as Commander-in-Chief of the greatest military in the history of the world.”

“I’m a better man having worked with you,” he declared.

Those same military members and veterans apparently feel they’re better off without him however, as a new poll shows that more than half of our fighting forces hold a negative view of Obama.

Better yet, nearly the same exact percentage cast their vote for Donald Trump this past election!

President Barack Obama will leave office on Jan. 20 with negative reviews from most members of the U.S. military.

More than half the troops in a new poll had an unfavorable opinion of Obama’s leadership of the military for the past eight years, and about 36 percent said they approved of his performance as commander in chief, according to the latest survey by the Military Times and the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University.

Nearly 49 percent of service members who voted in the November election cast their ballots for Republican Donald Trump, who was very critical of Obama, while 29 percent voted for Democrat Hillary Clinton, who was Obama’s secretary of state.

Military members essentially said ‘we don’t like you, President Obama,’ in this poll, after having said ‘we think Trump will be a much better Commander-in-Chief,’ by casting their vote.

Why do they feel this way? The survey helps to shed some light on that as well, with a vast majority saying President Obama has left their ranks understaffed, made them less safe by withdrawing troops from Iraq, and made them less safe with his decisions in Afghanistan.

No wonder there were so many empty seats for the President’s farewell speech. The disdain for his leadership was so palpable that a U.S. Army Honor Guard member tried to escape his hollow speech by passing out.

Okay, maybe we’re just kidding about that part.

Still, the way the military feels about Obama is clearly not positive. Nowhere is this more evident than in the following video which shows the difference between Marines meeting and greeting President George W. Bush, and then doing the same with President Obama.

Perhaps our military members and veterans have grown weary of 8-years worth of a presidency in which they’ve been treated like trash.
