5 Times Black Lives Matter Rioted Over An Armed Man Being Shot

black lives matter riots
We have seen horrific race riots in Charlotte, North Carolina, this month over the shooting death of an armed black man by a black cop.

As is so often the case, the media comes up with a false narrative – in this case, that Keith Lamont Scott was holding a book, not a gun – that leads to agitation, protests, and even violent riots. Only later does the truth come out – Scott was in possession of a stolen gun and had previously had a restraining order filed against him by his wife.

Not that any of that matters to the Black Lives Matter movement, race hustlers, and looters. The narrative of the unarmed black man executed by the racist cop must be adhered to no matter the facts.

Here are 5 quick examples in the last 2 years of other times BLM, protesters, and rioters freaked out about a police shooting of an “unarmed” man that turned out to be justifiable because the guy was aiming a gun at police.

1. Antonio Martin, 18, Berkley, Missouri, December 23, 2014

From the Daily Caller:

A black 18-year-old with a lengthy criminal record who was fatally shot by a white police officer in a town near Ferguson, Missouri pointed a 9mm handgun at the cop, authorities say.

The proximity of the shooting to Ferguson sparked a violent protest among those who believed that the teenager, who was identified at the scene by his mother as Antonio Martin, was unarmed when he was shot.

Shockingly, protesters were lied to and told Martin was unarmed. Unfortunately for them, surveillance footage (see above) shows him pointing a gun at police. But let’s not let the truth get in the way of a little violent protest!

No doubt Martin was portrayed as a harmless, sweet little boy, but according to KMOV, in the 15 months between turning 17 and his death, Martin faced several criminal charges, including three assaults, an armed robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and stealing.

2. Mansur Ball-Bey, 18, St. Louis, Missouri, August 19, 2015

According to NBC News:

St. Louis police arrested nine people and deployed tear gas to break up protests that followed the police killing of an 18-year-old man who authorities say pointed a gun at two officers.

Protesters threw glass bottles and bricks at officers and refused to clear the roadway, Chief Sam Dotson told reporters late Wednesday.

On Wednesday afternoon, according to police, two officers were executing a search warrant at a home in a crime-plagued neighborhood when two armed men fled out the back.

The officers shot Mansur Ball-Bey, 18, after he turned and pointed a gun at them, police said.

Four guns and cocaine were also found at the scene. But that didn’t stop “about 150 people gathered in protests near the scene of the shooting” where there was looting and cars lit on fire.

3. Nicholas Robertson, 28, Los Angeles, California, December 12, 2015

According to IJR:

Controversy arose this past Saturday in Los Angeles, when police shot down 28-year-old father of three, Nicholas Robertson. It was widely believed that he had dropped his weapon before being killed.

Within hours of the shooting, protesters gathered at the scene and were chanting ‘no justice, no peace’ at officers.

At one point during the protest, the caution tape was ripped down by angry civilians…

According to reports by authorities, Robertson was warned several times to drop his weapon, but he refused to do so. When he tried to walk across a busy street, still brandishing his gun, police fired 33 bullets at him.

The new footage reveals that Roberson had his gun in hand the entire time, even pointing it at the officers.

Even those who rushed to judgment had to change their tune on this one a bit. According to the LA Times:

Community activist Najee Ali, who initially called the shooting “an execution,” backed away from earlier rhetoric after viewing the video. Instead, he said, he was “calling for the community not to rush to judgment.”

Oops.

4. Jai “Jerry” Williams, 35, of Asheville, North Carolina, July 2, 2016

According to WYFF:

Police said they were called around 7 p.m. July 2, to the Pisgah View Apartments on reports of shots fired.

Officers were given a description of the vehicle involved, and when they attempted stop the vehicle they said the driver fled.

A chase started and ended at the Deaverview Apartments, police said.

According to police, officers could see a woman struggling inside the vehicle.

Officials said they gave the driver, later identified as 35-year-old Jai Lateef Solveig Williams, commands but he threatened an officer and displayed an AR-15.
The officer shot and killed him, police said.

Officials said four people were in the car, but no one else was injured.

Asheville Police Chief Tammy Hooper said shell casings were found at the Pisgah View Apartments where the first report of shots fired originated. They said the AR-15 was recovered from Williams.

So, protesters marched, blocked streets and traffic, and held sit-ins at the police department for a man who fired an AR-15 and led officers on a chase with a woman who appeared to be kidnapped. How can anyone defend that?!

5. Sylville Smith, 23, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, August 13, 2016

According to TheBlaze:

Flynn identified 23-year-old Sylville Smith as the shooting victim, adding that he’d fled a traffic stop. Mayor Tom Barrett said police body camera footage showed Smith holding a gun when he was shot several times.

“It was in his hand. He was raising up with it,” Flynn said at a Sunday news conference.

After watching the officer’s body camera footage, Flynn said the entire incident took about 25 seconds, from the start of the traffic stop until shots were fired. He said Smith ran “a few dozen feet” after being stopped, and turned toward the officer while holding the gun. He said it was unclear how many rounds the officer fired in response…

Flynn said Smith had a “lengthy arrest record.”

Smith was accused in a shooting last year and charged with recklessly endangering safety, a felony. He was subsequently accused of pressuring the victim to recant statements that identified him as the gunman and was charged with trying to intimidate a witness, the newspaper reported.

It’s unclear why both charges were dropped.

He also pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon in 2014. Smith was cited for driving without a license or insurance, speeding and driving with open intoxicants earlier this year. Court records identify Smith as black.

There was even body cam footage for this one, but still parts of the city were torn up and burnt down. The rioting in Milwaukee got so bad that Governor Scott Walker had to call in the National Guard.

All of these examples lead to this classic meme:

black lives matter riots

WTF, indeed.

This is why Black Lives Matter has lost all credibility. If you are going to protest and riot no matter what, what is the point of engaging with you?

You can only cry wolf so many times. And while they even now continue to cry wolf in their rush to judgment, I will also continue to do the smart thing and wait for the truth to come out as it inevitably does.
